Windows 10: Users now has a new name listed - can I delete it

I've been having a few issues with my account on Windows 11. I have one account that I set up to be Local. When I go to my C drive and look at Users there is a new account and it's called something different. But it's a name that is part of my email log in address. The folders inside are empty. I'd like to delete it but don't want to mess anything up. I'm not sure how that account was created. But a couple weeks ago, it appeared to take over and I couldn't see any of the folders inside my Local account until I restarted the computer. when you create a new user, windows creates folders under the c:\Users directory with the account name (ie Geoff) if you rename the user, although the new name is shown on login etc the directory names don't change.

the easiest way to get rid of Geoff is to -

• change the username to something else (or back to Geoff)
• create a new user with your name
• copy all your documents, photos, videos etc. from Geoff to your new user
• delete the Geoff user account and remove folders etc.

this can all be done in user accounts as suggested by Ruth

How to change User name on Windows 10
