    I have an older diagnostic dvd that the disc says runs on xp, vista, 7, 8, & 9. My computer is windows 10.I cannot get this to run properly! I have spent days googling / reading anything having to do with using this dvd and several people have said it will only work on com 1!?Let me add, I am using a dvd writer/reader as the computer does not accept dvdsI found something that indicates configuring to com 1 through device mgr but I do not see port / dvd as an option.How do I enable this dvd? How do I find or set com1? Does the dvd in the writer have to be connected to see this option. V

    Hi,

    I suggest you to refer to the below methods and check if it helps.

    Step 1: I suggest you to run Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

    Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter find and fix problems with playing DVDs in Windows Media Player.

    Steps:

    • Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
      and select it.
    • Click on View all in the left pane.
    • Click onWindows Media Player DVD and follow the onscreen instructions.

    Also Refer to the section Rip and burn CDs from:
    Windows Media Player

    Step 2: I suggest you to refer to the Microsoft help article about:
    Burn a CD or DVD in Windows Media Player

    It may be that your DVD drive has a hardware failure (as was suggested in that thread).
