  1. Using a laptop on the same network as a desktop using same credentials.

I am trying to connect to access files on my desktop using my laptop on the same network with both pc's using the same microsoft account but, when I try to connect it asks me to enter user credentials to connect. That's the microsoft account I am using on the other pc right? It says that is wrong info though. Both of the pc's are setup to private network and network discovery is on, on both. When I try to connect to the other pc through the network tab it says that I don't have authority to connect!

    :)

  2. Network Credentials

    Hi Sammy,

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
    manager.

    • Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
    • Type in Windows Credentials.
We would appreciate as well if you could provide us a screenshot.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. Edit Network Credentials

I just got my laptop back from the repair shop where the HD was wiped and Windows 10 reinstalled. I want to share other network devices, but I'm being asked for my Network Credentials. I don't know what they are. I can follow the steps to get to the credentials
details link from Control Panel, but I can't seem to change or remove the hidden password. Advice? Suggestions?

    TIA

  4. Using a laptop on the same network as a desktop using same credentials.

Desktop can't access laptop without 'credentials'

My Win 10 HP laptop used to be in the Homegroup of my Home Network. Now, for no reason I can think of, the laptop asks for 'credentials' when I want to access the desktop via the network. The laptop is also prohibited, it seems, from joining the Homegroup.
I have tried all the suggestions I can find on the web to fix this, including a Network Reset, but nothing has made any difference.

Neither can the desktop, also Win 10, access the laptop without 'credentials'. No combination of user name and password, out of all those I have, works, so I have no idea what the wretched things want.

On the other hand, both desktop and laptop can access files on my Mac Air and on my Humax STB.
