    Using accounts for added security

can I set up two accounts in Windows 10 linked to the same email account. (One admin and one general) and if not can I set up an admin acct with no email account and a general linked to an email account ?

This is so I can mostly use the general account but if a Nasty gets in and tries to change anything I will be alerted by the request for permission. I've been using this system on vista and would like to set up 10 in the same way. Of course it was simple in vista because user accounts didn't need email or Microsoft accounts then.

    :)

  2. Added Other User Accounts Cannot Login

I am having the same issue as described about except:

    1) I can choose Computer management but do not see a Local Users and Groups node to see the accounts are disabled

    2) I have 1 Microsoft account, 1 Local account which I can access. Strangely, when I boot up the Local account is opened during the boot process. If I log out of it, I cannot get back in, my 1st issue.

    3) I created 2 new Local accounts which I cannot access

    4) I see only 3 accounts in the registry, the 2 account in #2 above and one which I thought I deleted over a month ago.

I thought the registry was messed up weeks ago, but Microsoft support could not solve the problem, they had me load another version (1511) of Windows 10. They stop helping after 3 hours and tell you to call back. Two subsequent calls got nowhere. I converted
to Windows 10 early in September and it has not worked correctly yet.

  3. Added Other User Accounts Cannot Login

    Hi Christopher,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

To assist you better, I would like to know whether the account is Microsoft account or a local account.

If it is a Microsoft account, I also suggest you to run Microsoft account troubleshooter and check.

    Microsoft Account Troubleshooter

    http://download.microsoft.com/downl...B-A23B-5C3A6B5974E3/microsoftaccounts.diagcab

After performing the troubleshooter, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if you are able to log into the new account.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/getstarted-set-up-accounts

I also suggest you to check if the accounts are disabled.

To determine whether an account is not active:

    • Press Ctrl + X and choose Computer management.
    • Expand the Local Users and Groups node.
    • Click Users.
If the user account is displayed with a red X through it, it has been disabled. To enable the account:

    • Double click the account.
    • Click to clear the Account is disabled check box.
Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

    Using accounts for added security

When I tried to link a second local admin account to the same email account on the same PC, I got no warning or error, but the local account is still a local one. I hope this info will be helpful for you to make decision.

PS: there is no problem to set up two Microsoft accounts but you have to use different email accounts.
