Windows 10: Using aexternal Speakers with Sub on a Laptop.

I have new laptop (MSI GS75 Stealth 9SF), and purchased a Klipsch 3-piece speaker set (with sub), which I use from the "speaker out" jack. Is there some way I can tell Win 10 there is a sub attached. The sound is going through the standard Realtek driver, and I can't find anywhere to change the configuration.

There is no 2.1 sound. What you do is to set your computer to stereo and set your speakers as full range speakers.





What this does is windows 10 sending all the stereo signal from 20 Hz to 20 kHz to the your speakers. Then your crossover in the subwoofer will keep the 20 Hz to 80 Hz signal and spit out the 80 Hz to 20 kHz signal to the stereo speakers.

If you don't set your speakers to full range, then Windows 10 will just send 80 Hz to 20 kHz to the stereo speakers.

If it's attached by a standard stereo jack then the only control over the Bass and regular frequencies will be via a "crossover" in the speaker itself , this will send bass frequencies to the Sub, and others to the regular speakers

If your laptop has a full range output, this will be via multiple jacks. USB, or specialist socket(s), and the software to control what frequencies are fed to which output this will be in the laptop. The control will be at a set starting point and may have a variable control

I've just looked at the spec on your laptop and as there is not any specific specs of the sound output this would suggest that the sound output is a standard one rather than an advanced set up
