Windows 10: Using audio adapter - laptop not offering the option in sound selection

I purchased an audio adapter to use earbuds for listening to a program when I don't want others around me to hear. I'm not getting the selection to use it when I go to sound settings. This is a Ugreen adapter. I had previously used one that I borrowed from a friend. His required a small USB cable. I don't have a cable that has the plug in hole for the earbuds. The adapter did not come with a cable.

My media player does not offer the option of selecting "audio" it hide list, and sort list by, and skipped items.

 

No sound Audio

This issue might occur if some of the sound settings got corrupted.

  Select Playing Audio under

Do you get sound with basic windows drivers?

I suggest you try the following steps:

Follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Right on the start icon and click on device manager
  
• 
  Expand Sound video and Gaming , Select the Audio adapter, right click on un-install.
  
• 
  Restart the computer.
