Windows 10: Using bluetooth headphones with laptop ... laptop speakers play, too. How to turn them off?

This is for a friend who told me his speakers continue to play when he uses paired bluetooth headphones on his new Windows 10 computer was Windows 11, but he went back to 10. I do not know the brand or model of the laptop, but he will bring the laptop to me next week to see what I can do. I promised him nothing, but I am hoping for suggestions as a quick search on the internet gave me no ideas. Suggestions or actual repair information is very welcome. Thank you for whatever you can suggest.

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.

my bluetooth headphones are paired, listen most sounds OK i.e. spotify, windows media player, but itunes plays through laptop speakers and not headphones, have checked settings definitely paired only not paired with itunes

 

Bluetooth speaker wont connect to laptop?


I'm having some trouble figuring out what to do here, my Bluetooth speaker wont connect and isn't even discoverable by my laptop. i want to connect my Bluetooth speaker to my laptop but when i go to Bluetooth settings my speaker does not show up on the list of devices. I have un-installed and re-installed the drivers, i've reset the Bluetooth driver management service and Bluetooth support services but still nothing is working, any help would be much appreciated.

just in case you need to know the specs.
speaker: Bush soundbar model-BSB02BT20
laptop: Hp Elitebook 8470p running windows 10

please help!
