Windows 10: Using Clonezilla to Move Windows 10 Image from Dell to HP Laptops

I am trying to move my wife's Windows 10 laptop image from her current Dell laptop to a new HP laptop. I use the Clonezilla IMAGE backup with the -J1 option rewrite boot block. When restored, the HP says it can't find a bootable OS. My research suggests this is because the image is missing the drivers for the new HP drive.Can I install the HP drives on the DELL image before I CLONE without causing problems with the existing DELL drivers and potentially corrupting the DELL image? I have confirmed that the target HP ran Windows 10 even though it came installed with Windows 11.Thanks

Cloning with Clonezilla not working

Here's what happened in a condensed form:

• I have 2 HDDs, a Raptor and a 1TB drive
• I install Mac OSX on the Raptor
• Using Clonezilla, I make an image of the Raptor with OSX on it and store it on the 1TB drive.
• I install Windows 7 on the Raptor.
• Using Clonezilla, I make an image of Win7 and store it on the Raptor.
• For fun, I use Clonezilla to restore the OSX image back to the Raptor.
• I boot OSX and it gives me errors
• I use Clonezilla again and restore the Win7 image back to the Raptor
• Everything works

Why would won't OSX boot? I think this has to do more with Clonezilla than OSX. It was working before I cloned it.

 

My hp laptop wont turn on

This is a frequent problem am sure as you have already seen from online searches.

Flea power is usually the culprit here, basically its residual power that remains on the computer even after thecomputer has been shutdown. You can drain the flea power with the steps the other answers have suggested.

• Disconnecting the battery and adapter
• Press the hardpress the power button for 30 seconds
• This should clear the flea power

Shopping for a new Laptop: Suggestions on Manufacturers? HP or Dell?

I generally advise against the home/small business laptops ... or any laptop that lists for under $1000. They tend to be junk.
When you buy junk it breaks ... and then you buy junk again ... and it breaks.
But with the over-$1000 business laptops you get better construction and longer life.

I was going to suggest Lenovo. Mine is 7 years old and works perfectly. Can't say the same for the Dells and HPs that I've owned.

But for $150 you can't get anything ... not if you buy new.
If you buy cheap you're just throwing your money away.
