Windows 10: Using Microsoft Spotlight for both Lock Screen and Windows Desktop via Dynamic Theme but...

Up until Saturday, I was using the same image as the Lock Screen as my Desktop background. I don't recall how it was setup, I just know that it worked. THEN I goofed and right-clicked a picture and inadvertently selected "set as desktop background." Bad move. I could NOT for the life of me figure out how to get things to go back. I couldn't find a system restore point recent enough to try, so I downloaded the Dynamic Theme and set Windows Spotlight as my desktop background. NOW my problem is that I get different images for the Lock screen and the desktop background. I realize this is not a major issue but I am compulsive OCD and I assure, it BOTHERS ME. Is there a way I can fix this??


For some reason, and I haven't figured out why, the lock screen pictures are nicer than the ones I'm getting on my background. I just cannot believe how ONE errant mouse click can wreak such havoc! Again, I realize this may sound overly dramatic to some but I can assure you, I am quite serious.

Windows Spotlight on the lock screen

Hi,

There are multiple causes on why you're encountering this issue. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you disable and re-enable Spotlight. Simply follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the desktop and open Personalize.
• Open Lock Screen tab.
• Under Background, switch from Windows Spotlight to a Picture or the Slideshow.
• Click OK and close the Window.
• Now Log off and log in.
• Navigate to Lock screen and enable Windows Spotlight again.

Windows Spotlight dynamic wallapers on the desktop?


I love the Windows Spotlight dynamic wallpapers on the Windows lock screen. I would love to have the same feature for the desktop as well. I know I can collect pictures in a folder at set a background slideshow but I am too lazy for that I just want beautiful, random images on my desktop that auto-change every day or so. Is there any way to get the Windows spotlight feature on the desktop? is this something Microsoft will add in a future update?

 

Windows spotlight images (Lock screen)

This is really dumb, but if you are like me and use spotlight for your windows lock screen images, I actually tend to like some of them alot. They rotate it seems every few days but it doesn't seem to delete them as often as it gets new ones.

With that said I couldnt find anything similar online so I made a script that would pull the files from the folder buried in app data that keeps the files. They dont have an extension normally so I append the JPG extension too them.

I create a folder on your desktop called spotlight and copy the files too it then run the conversion.

I didn't spend forever on this so be nice but otherwise;
