using netplwiz I created a second iteration of an identical user and now can't delete it

Windows 11, all updates installed, no other problemsOnly one user name shows up in Settings> accounts as an admin--I have checked under the "other user" tabWhen I go to log in as windows boots, two idnetical login options are visible and I get the error "password not recognized". I can then click on the other login and enter a pin or type my password and login with the first. This is a minor issue, but annoying. Is there a good way of getting rid of the duplicaiton I would prefer not to elete the account as I have only just gotten all the settings and personalisations back the way I like

    :)

  2. Can not delete second user

I was trying to turn off the Hello Pin, and mistakenly found myself in creating a second user. I was a bit lost, and put in my account name and password. On boot-up, it goes to this second user, and defaults. Luckily, it will show me my administrator account and allow me to put in the old pin to get on.

I have tried netplwiz to remove this user (and other search results) BUT, there is never a second user account listed. I figure this is somehow because I put in the same name. On all the you can delete lists - there is only one name listed is the administrator. I know enough that going to c-prompt or powershell will get me into trouble.

Every Morning, it shows me that there is an error, and I have to click the screen, get both accounts listed there (the only place I have seen two listed), choose the administrator and put in the pin. I know I can get on and work - but I was trying to stop all the extra steps to get onto my computer and I seem to have created more. It's not a big deal, but it bugs me, and I'd like to fix this.

Unknown User Account created after upgrading to windows 10. It comes back if I delete it.

    Original Title: Unknown User Account

    Hello,

Since I upgraded to Windows 10 I am seeing an account that I did NOT create. So I deleted it by going into Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > User Accounts > Manage Accounts then I click on the unknown user account and delete it. That said.... It
comes back. I have also followed the below suggestions from other posts and still does not seem to work.

Let’s try simple steps and check if the user account is detecting and try removing it.

    • Press Windows key + R, type netplwiz and press Enter.

    • Check if the user account is appearing on the list.

    • Click on user account and click on Remove. (If user account appear on the list).
    Please advise.

    Thank you

Deleting second user account that isn't showing in User Accounts

The return of the Windows login screen with two accounts I described in the OP got me to take a closer look at the Advanced tab in netplwiz. This looks like the page we need to discuss. I don't understand the different items and, without knowing more, sure don't want to delete the "Sam" account with "Sam Jones" next to it as the full name, when the latter is the name of the real Administrator account. Would you mind breaking down this list for me? Thanks,
