    Using Paint's Import to Canvas to scan an image doesn't work


    The dropdown choice in Paint under "FILE" recently changed to Import to Canvas. If I use it to scan from my HP printer, it doesn't capture the whole image anymore; the captured image is only part of the picture - as if it were scanning to a larger image which doesn't fit. That sounds a little confusing so: the original is approx 8"x6" but only 4.5" x 4.5" is actually scanned. In another example, the original is 8.5"x11" but only 4.5"x4.5" is actually scanned.

    Unable to save imported images onto the MS Paint canvas

    I have Windows 11. I have always been able to open and work with MS Paint, which came installed on my ASUS laptop. However, now when I import an image to the canvas, I am unable to save that image. The image disappears from the canvas as soon as I attempt any kind of 'save' operation. Why is this? It was fine two days ago and I notice MS Paint shows it was updated on 11/10/23. I have tried to usual cache clearance, admin runs and updates again, but the problem persists. I use Paint for simple image production and cannot understand why this facility has become so problematic.

    Kayece here, An Independent advisor and a user just like you. I will be happy to assist you today.

    I understand that you are unable to save your imported images onto the MS Paint. The image disappears after you have attempted to save it. Does the issue persist with any other files?

    I suggest to perform the steps below. If the first step does not help, please proceed to the next step.

    *Check if the Windows is up to date. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. If there is an available update, select Install Now.

    *Update Microsoft Store. Select Start, then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select Library > Get updates. If an update for the Microsoft Store is available, it will start installing automatically.

    *Try to Repair or reset your apps. Follow the steps provided on the link below.

    *If the issue still persists, then I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall the paint. I suggest performing the guidelines and steps in the article on the link below.

    • Are you able to import a single image into the canvas for collage?
    • Did you check that by saving each images after the import?
