Using Samsung TV as monitor, every night when it turns off my resolution changes Windows 11

I have a GeForce RTX 3070ti PC that is connected via HDMI to a Samsung S95B 55" tv. I use it all day and its fine but when I turn the tv off and go to bed it resizes everything while the TV is off. When it turn the TV back on all my windows are 3/4 off the top left of the screen and I have to manually drag them all down. Also inside of each window things are moved around in games and applications as though while the TV was off the resolution changed. I am at a loss how to stop the PC from auto adjusting the resolution. It also happens when I remote into the PC where it sometimes does and somet

    TV resolution problem

    Hi,

1920x1080 is the standard resolution for TV's in full HD.

For us to better assist you, please answer the following questions:

    • Have you tried changing the resolution of the monitor through Intel HD Graphics Control Panel?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, go to Intel HD Graphics Control Panel and try changing the resolution to get the best picture and size of the video displayed on your monitor.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

  3. Changing the external tv resolution.

Hello, I have a question. So i got a r7 260x from AMD, which i got it to work with my 21.5" Asus monitor and my 40" Samsung tv at the same time in Windows 7. The monitor is connected with a dvi cable and the tv is connected using a hdmi cable. The problem
is now, that in Windows 10 i can't get it to work. My windows automatically sets the resolution as full hd (1920x1080) for both. My monitor takes it without any problem but my tv can't handle that resolution. I mean, It is a full hd tv, and it should handle
it, but it doesn't. And i should set the resolution to 1600x900. I could do that on Windows 7, but after i upgraded to Windows 10 i can't do that anymore. I don't need to run them both at the same time, I can also just work with the tv, but i don't know how
to change the resolution to 1600x900, because it doesn't let me change it. In Windows 7 i could set my monitor to 1920x1080 and my tv on 1600x900 on the same time, but it seems like Windows 10 doesn't let me do that . The version of the driver is 15.201.1151
and i didn't update it, because i updated to Windows 10 when it first came, then updated the driver, and i had some bluescreens problem, so i just let it like this. Should i upgrade the driver to make it work ? I can also post some screenshots if needed. Thanks.

Reproducible Windows crash when using a TV as a second monitor and changing settings while the TV is off

I use a hybrid gaming/work setup where an OLED TV is my second monitor for gaming and my main display is used for work. I normally want the TV to be off and to turn it on for gaming, but Windows will continue to detect the TV when it's off for a while (because OLED TVs stay on after a shutdown to perform maintenance tasks) and manually changing display settings while the TV is off causes a surprisingly hard lock.

    The steps are:

Tun on a monitor and an OLED TV, extend display to both.

Turn off the TV, notice the display is still present in the settings and the mouse will go into it despite being off.

Go into display settings, set the multimonitor configuration to not use the TV.

Windows hardlocks on a frozen screen in the active monitor, won't change state if turning the TV on.

I've repro'd this on a lot of configs. With a 3080, with a 4090, on multiple Nvidia drivers, with a Samsung OLED, with an LG OLED, with two other monitors, one monitor, with the monitors wired and wireless and on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and on three separate PCs.

Windows remains pretty bad at outputting to TVs (no surround audio passthrough detection, spotty HDR detection and so on), but a 100% hard lock is a bit much. Any known workarounds or incoming fixes other than manually disconnecting the TV before switching it off?
