Windows 10: Using the output jack as a mono input

Is there a driver that exists that will allow the headphone output jack to be switched to take an input signal? this would be similar to an audio interface taking in a microphone signal and allowing for it to be recorded into a DAW. I Know mac used to allow this feature. It seems realtek used to have the feature and it has been removed

Use 4 pole combo jack as mono/stereo input

I have a HP laptop (recent 15" Pavilion) with a "combo" headset jack, that serves as a stereo headphones output and a mono microphone input. My question is, without any external adapters, would it be possible to get Windows to recognise a connected mono (TS) or stereo (TRS) cable as an audio input? Or is it impossible due to the design of the jack and the ADC/DACs? I'm open to solutions using any kind of Windows software (I'm running Windows 10).

 

Headphones jack only outputting mono after dolby access install

I tried all he above suggestions. initially when i plug my headphones on the fron 3.5 mm jack stereo sound works fine. So I went on to dolby access to try and test dolby atmos. Once it started and when i tested a video the audio quality goes bad and then
if i went on to test the audio from windows configuration I only get mono output.

Definitely Dolby access is causing this. It is not just me this is an issue with many cases i have noticed online. U need to help please.

 

How to bring up audio jack´s input/output choice window?

My computer has only one audio jack. I need it to work as an input line in, Currently it works as an output. When I plugged audio into the jack, Windows used to ask me whether the jack should work as an input or an output. Now I can´t change that setting.
How do I bring back the window that allows me to change the jack´s input/output choice?
