Windows 10: Using Win 10 Calendar/Contacts within Outlook 2013

I want to continue to use Outlook as my main email client (sorry, but the built-in app in Windows 10 is little more than a pretty toy, even my phone's email app is more powerful and configurable). I have Outlook 2010 installed on my PC and Outlook 2013 installed on my laptop (I prefer 2010 though), and I access about half a dozen POP3 accounts using both machines, using rules to transfer mails to multiple folders, etc.

The one (and thus far only) plus point I've found about the native Win10 mail/calendar app is that it syncs nicely with my contacts and calendar on my Android devices (via my Google gmail account, which I basically only use for syncing not for actually emailing, as I really don't need any more active email accounts!).

My question is how do I get Outlook 2010 or 2013 to use the new Windows 10 calendar? And ideally sync the contacts too. That way my PCs and my Android devices will all finally be in sync without having to fiddle around manually.

Is Windows 10 calendar and People/contacts ( I could not find tasks!) supposed to be same as

Outlook 2013 Calendar, People, and Tasks? -- I know Calendars are different. I prefer phone to sync only with Win 10 apps but they seem to be incomplete and difficult to use , compared to Outlook '13 apps.

What is going on with all these different versions? Will they be the same when Win 10 settles down?

I guess no one has any thoughts on this then?

Not to worry anyway, I'll stick with GO Contact Sync Mod ; I didn't realise it did Calendar syncing as well as Contacts now.

And after a bit more looking, compared to Outlook the new Calendar/Mail app seems like a dumbed-down kiddies toy anyway. Fine for a small phone screen perhaps, but woefully underspecified for a main desktop PC with multiple email accounts, folders, processing rules, etc.

Hi, I am posting this just hoping that in the meantime someone has answers to the original posters question.

 

I think that the Win 10 calendar syncs only with other cloud calendars. Unfortunately, the MS devs live with their heads in the clouds and forget that that are millions of us using ANOTHER MICROSOFT PROGRAMME, Outlook, and the data is stored an inch away on the same hard drive! They assume everyone works in the cloud--I travel a lot to places where internet is either non existent, or prohibitively costly (as much as 0.80c a minute!).

Bottom line, I doubt that you are ever going to see the obvious happen--making two of their own apps talk to each other. Go figure a Company that encourages you to use someone else's product, rather than their own.
