Windows 10: Utechsmart Venus D-16400 control app not working in Windows 10

Hey guys;
I'm running the latest (well, almost... haven't run the update this week) ver of Windows 10 pro on an old (8+yrs) system with MSI P67A mobo / intel i5 2500, 16GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB with more than 1.5TB total storage.
Windows itself runs on the Samsung 850 EVO 512GB SSD.

I have owned this Utechsmart D-16400 gaming mouse for several years. It worked fine on Windows 7 on the same machine.
When I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro back in Jan, I never bothered to install the utechsmart driver, and the Windows driver was enough to allow the mouse to work properly.
I am able to change DPI using the top button, and change profiles (which changes the LED color, and maybe a few other features) using the button on the bottom of the mouse. But when I install the utechsmart driver, which I just downloaded yesterday, the control app doesn't do anything at all.
The install completed without any errors, and I even tried un-installing and re-installing, first running the install as Admin (my user has admin privs already), and then in compatibility mode for Windows 7. No good. The CP still doesn't work.
I always do a reboot after installing any driver.

I can click the buttons to get at any of the mouse settings, but making any changes, then clicking Apply and OK does not change anything on the mouse.
It's a bit frustrating, but considering that the mouse itself works fine without the utechsmart driver, I'm not going to waste a lot of time working with this. I did e-mail the manufacturer last night, so perhaps they can help me.
But until I do hear anything back, I'm wondering if anyone else here has this sort of problem. Whether for the same brand or any other.

Metro 2033 fails to work on windows 10!

I don't recall you mentioning any trouble shooting steps attempted though. At the very least, doing a quick search and checking threads like this very well may have solved it for you. It's listed as compatible on MS' list of games that work with W10 for a reason, because many if not most are able to get it running on W10. At least some level of workaround may be required, but some got it running without doing anything.

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”
