Windows 10: uuuuuugh kb5000802 i have typed it so many times i have memorized it

so kb5000802 will not install. i have done everything. all the things. deleted the software distro download folder, ran dism, ran troubleshooter, learned new cmd lines that i have never used before, ran the standalone updater, tried to manually update, tried undoing updates to go back and reinstall updates in the correct order, none of it works. it always downloads, installs, then at restart it gets to 7%, fails, and goes into an undoing changes loop. this has been going on for two weeks now and windows is basically now threatening my laptop with failure if i don't find a way to install this update which, i have been reading, also bluescreens many computers. so it sounds like i might be dodging a bullet except that windows seems to be emphatic that i need it.

i have one question and one request:

can i just not install this update that is bluescreening computers that my laptop clearly doesn't want?

and can microsoft please stop trying to force updates on me that are so buggy it bluescreens computers?

i am currently in hurry up back up everything mode.

I suggest you to change the Date and Time format from Control Panel and check. Also select the time zone as UTC-5.00 Eastern Time.


After changing the setting, I suggest you to set “Windows Time” service as automatic. Follow the steps provided below.

• Press Windows logo Key + R key.
• Type services.msc
• Right click on Windows Time service.
• Select Properties.
• Under startup type drop down, change it to Automatic.
• Click on Apply button and OK button.

Restart your computer and check.

I would suggest you to upgrade to latest build and install all the updates on your computer.

To install all theWindows Updates, follow the steps below.

• At the Start screen, type Windows Update.
• Select Check for Update.
• Download andInstall the latest Windows Updates.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
