Windows 10: Various keyboard functions not functioning at times, how to solve this issue?

Ive been experiencing issues with my keyboard lately, such as the shift shortcuts not working like parentheses, brackets and such. sometimes the fn keys dont work, screen brightness doesnt change. Sometimes the keyboard stops functioning entirely for a few minutes. Also sometimes every number on the keyboard except 5 and 6 stops working. Ive checked all the input drivers, booted the system in safe mode, but the issue persists. This issue limits many functions on my computer to the point that its becoming unusable.

Intermittent keyboard non-functioning


I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. Every now and then, often enough to be irritating, the keyboard fails to function: the mouse works properly. The keyboard problem persists for a few minutes, after which it works again. There is no discernable pattern to this problem.

This is the third wireless keyboard to show the same problem, suggesting something is wrong elsewhere.

The keyboard batteries are not responsible for the failure.

On the same desk is a cordless telephone.

Any helpful suggestions would be very gratefully received.

 

Inverting Function Keys

  Are you able to use function keys using on screen keyboard?

  What is the make and model of your computer?
  

I suggest you to try using on screen keyboard and check if you are able to use the functionality of function key.

To open on screen keyboard, type on screen keyboard in the
search box on the taskbar and select on screen keyboard.

Keyboards - Change of Function  

I just went into control panel and keyboards, it says I have 4 setting. I deleted all except the ps2 and rebooted, it put the others back in HID Keyboards, I only have the one attached. I decided to do a screen dump of the PS2 keyboard drivers and noticed something: what the hell is ESET.
