  1. Varying link speeds and frequent disconnects

Hello. I have a desktop PC, and I frequently use it for gaming and watching shows. Lately, my internet has gone rubbish. I'm using WiFi. Firstly, a few weeks ago, I noticed that whenever I was playing a game, I would get random internet disconnects, which last maybe 5 seconds, then it would re connect instantly. This causes me to get kicked out of games, and in general is a very painful experience. Please note, this is not as issue with the game, as even when not playing, I can see this happening the WiFi symbol goes, and all my apps disconnect for the 5 seconds. In order to fix this, I set

Linksys as wireless bridge with tomato disconnects frequently

Which router do you think I should go for, something from Linksys or D-link at a similar price to Netgear?

dns_probe_finished_bad_config Frequently, But No Network Disconnection

My Lenovo C940 laptop has an Intel Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz network adapter. Windows 10 Home 1909.

Using either up-to-date Chrome or the latest version of Microsoft Edge.

Frequently, when I navigate to most new sites (I won't list every site, but they're highly varied -- not just google news, google calendar, gmail, etc.) I first get the dns_probe_finished_bad_config error. It appears for a couple seconds then the site loads automatically or once I click Refresh, it loads.

This issue can happen repeatedly, where this problem occurs for every site I access; or they can disappear and not occur at all for minutes or hours at a time.

The network never disconnects. I can also be streaming, or in a webinar, or any other downloading/uploading activity might be happening, and they continue uninterrupted, at normal high speeds.

What is going on here? How can I begin to troubleshoot it? The problem description is not easy to google Varying link speeds and frequent disconnects :p

Varying link speeds and frequent disconnects

    Varying results on speed tests

Using the same server test results may vary depending on:

    hardware used
    available bandwidth
    network congestion
unexpected use of bandwidth while testing (software on testing computer or other tablets/computers on the network)
    use of VPN
not rebooting before testing (router and computer)
not using the same browser and/or not clearing cache
    etc.
