Windows 10: Verification messages issue

I’ve been trying to login to my account. I have the username and the phone number but forgot the password:If your account has been flagged for unusual activity or locked for security reasons, verification messages might not go through until the issue is resolved.How do I get my account unlocked?

A screenshot might help us identify whether it is MS or gmail that is responsible for this (my guess is gmail). The MS instructions you linked to say that no verification should be required if 2FA (in gmail) is off.

I suggest you turn on 2FA in gmail, and try again.
