Thanks guys,,,,,I took the bull by the horns and clicked on it and it does seem that its because I have changed computers and somehow changed it myself.
I will just have to wait a month.
This is what I got when I clicked it,,still cannot understand their misspelling though.

You can't access this site right now
This site requires a security code to sign in. When your security info updates on 5/18/2018 you will be able to access this site. You can still access sites such as Outlook and Skype that don't require a security code.
If you didn't request this, let us know.
If you'd like to keep your current security info, you can cancel this request.
Well blow me I just got a notification that the wait is over and I can access it all again,,must be because I clicked it.
    Thanks again all.

Hi all..I have just received two or three mails that says its from Microsoft saying someone might have tried sign in to my account and and I am worried whether to confirm my password after seeing the obvious misspelling at the beginning of the message as you can see below.
Can you tell me, is it legit or not please.?

    Verifying account

    Hi,

I recently restarted using my Nokia Lumia 630 and was told whattsapp needs updating. When I try to update it, I successfully include my password but then it wants me to verify my account by way of sending a code to me by text or call. When I choose either
of these options, then it comes up with my number but without a 0 at the front and so no code can be sent. Hence the only option is to say 'I cannot verify my account'. When I try to fill in the form it leads me too, it wont allow me to click submit.

    Please help.

  5. It's hacker phishing spam.

I've been getting the same sort of emails regarding my Yahoo mail. That stuff went straight to the Yahoo spam bucket. If Yahoo says it's spam, then it's spam.

Neither Microsoft nor any other legitimate company will send you email asking you for a password. Not ever!
Nor will they block access just because the claim "unusual activity".

Does the email give you a link to click? Where does that lead? I'm betting it's NOT going to microsoft.com *Smile

  6. Clicking on a link inside a suspected e-mail phishing scam is unsafe in itself.

Outlook has been having problems worldwide and scammers are taking advantage of the two-step authentication method.

Go directly to your Microsoft account Create your Microsoft Account Today & check security>Review recent activity.
This will tell you if anyone has tried accessing your account.

I agree that the email is probably a phishing email, if you have two-factor authentication on your account you may receive these emails but they won’t contain spelling errors. When I receive one I visit the website directly not via the link in the email.

Depending on your email client, you can hover over the sender address and it should tell you who it is. I never respond to such emails even if they are legit. I prefer to go directly to the website myself.

  9. Excellent feedback! I agree completely about visiting the site directly; not the link. Heck, even with safe emails, I still visit the site directly and not by way of the link in the email. I always copy the link and put it directly in the browser to see if my browser security flags the site/link as malicious.

I also hover over the link or if I’m on my iPad I long press on the link which doesn’t open it but allows me to see the full URL, it should match what the links says - if it’s a MS site then the URL should point to the correct page, if it doesn’t then that’s an indication it’s a fake/scam site.

Hi....I have hovered over the link and it says Sign in to your Microsoft account ....but I am still scared to click on it.
I changed my computer a couple of weeks ago and maybe gave them my other email address, also when I clicked on REVIEW RECENT ACTIVITY it said
You can't access this site right now
This site requires a security code to sign in. When your security info updates on 4/23/2018 you will be able to access this site. You can still access sites such as Outlook and Skype that don't require a security code.
On 3/24/2018 you requested that your security info be replaced.
    Current security info
    Phone number ending in 52
    New security info
    Alternate email: ca*****@btinternet.com
If you didn't request this, let us know.
If you'd like to keep your current security info, you can cancel this request.
So should I just wait and see if I get any more emails?. By the way I got one today.

Sorry don't know what happened there but on my last post it has not put in what I typed.
I should have said " I have hovered over the link and it says Sign in to your Microsoft account"

You didn't do anything wrong with the link. It was just formatted by MS to put human readable words in the link. Like this:

Hi....I have hovered over the link and it says Sign in to your Microsoft account ....but I am still scared to click on it.

"Sign in to your Microsoft account"]Sign in to your Microsoft account

  14. In post #8; this caught my attention:

"On 3/24/2018 you requested that your security info be replaced."

I remember when I changed some of my security information, Microsoft locked me out of my own account for thirty days. Their explanation was that it was to discourage hackers and spammers. I was still able to access my email; however, I couldn't use or modify the account until the thirty days had elapsed.

If you requested that your security information be updated, then this explains a few things. If you didn't, then you should start taking steps to further investigate why you are receiving malicious requests.

That to me looks like a genuine MS link. It’s a secure site & is a microsoft.com link, it doesn’t ask for my account details - the email is already entered & asks me to approve the connection via my MS authenticator app, if it was fake it would probably link to microfost.com.
If you did ask for your security info changing to email then that’s it but if not then you should cancel the request &/or contact Microsoft immediately.
