Windows 10: Verify Authenticity by signature verification Windows 10

Hello, I am trying to verify a signature of a file using my windows 10 and I believe I might have reached an egg and chicken problem, looking forward some pros advices.I was trying to verify the signature of the Maven binary https://maven.apache.org/download.cgi, so I found this documentation https://infra.apache.org/release-signing#verifying-signature However, I am using Windows 10, that do not come built in with the gpg: 'gpg' is not recognized as an internal or external command.So I need to download the GNUPG so that I can use it to verify the signature of my Maven binary.Howeve

Windows hello, Authenticator and two step verification

I am struggling with a set of related Microsoft account login questions. It crosses some Windows Hello, password/PIN, Authenticator and two step verification boundaries. The question set up is as follows -

1. Valid Microsoft user account

2. Windows 10 PC with matching PIN user account login

3. iPhone with Microsoft Authenticator app

4. Microsoft account configured to use iPhone/Authenticator login verification

When I attempt online login to my Microsoft account from my PC, I receive a login approve/deny prompt on my iPhone. Selecting approve successfully completes the login. If I then visit the "Additional security options" page in my Microsoft account, I find
a link for setting up two step verification. That is, although I just used Microsoft Authenticator on my iPhone to approve the network login from my PC to my Microsoft account, I apparently do not have to two step verification configured for login access to
my Microsoft account. What am I failing to understand? Am I not using two step verification when I log in as described? If I select the "Set up two step verification" link and successfully complete the setup, what account security features will I enable that
are not already in place?

I still don't understand something I see after successful account login via Authenticator, though. When I visit the "Additional security options"page, the two step verification option presents a "Set up two step verification" link. Selecting the link presents
a new page with steps for configuring two step verification. What happens if I execute these steps?

Go to
https://account.microsoft.com/

At the top choose Security and Privacy

Under Account Security choose More Security Settings

Scroll down for the following

Your account is protected by two-step verification.

• Turn off two-step verification
  

You've set up an authenticator app.
Learn more about identity verification apps.

Before you can set up an identity verification app, you need to add another phone number or alternate email address, or verify an existing one.

• Set up identity verification app
  
• Turn off existing apps

Choose Set Up identity verification app which will give you the barcode/secret code you need to get your authenticator app going.

Be sure to verify the pairing was successful by entering the code generated on the newly setup app.
