  1. Verify your identity on this pc, no code sent to e-mail?

Anybody else not getting the verification e-mail with the code in it? I've double, triple, quadruple checked that its the correct e-mail address etc but I don't get the e-mail with the code to enter. Always worked in the past? I got the prompt during setup and tried it. I didn't get the e-mail on my other PC, so no code to enter. I clicked "I can't do this right now" and finished the install. Opened action center and tried it again and still no e-mail. And yes, I checked the junk folder. I've done this in Windows 8 many times with no issues. I don't have a cell phone so I can't use the send text option. I'll have to use the dial my home phone option. I just want to know if its just me that's having this issue before I do that. thanks.

    :)

  3. Verify your Identity on this PC

I went with a reset, keeping all my data of course but reinstalling all the windows files. Everything works now. I guess in my case, an update wasn't in the cards.

Verify your identity on this pc, no code sent to e-mail?

I got the code thru my gmail account. Normally I use Hotmail as MS account but gmail is a backup for it. As I was too anxious to try I found it faster to install in VM. Now I'm ready to install on another HDD but I'm wandering if I need new code or I can use previous one.

  5. You'll likely need a new code. I'm not getting my code at all. I did an install on my desktop PC last night and its the same deal. I'm not sure what's going on? It worked no problem for Windows 8 in the past. It's not a big deal it just messes up some sync features etc. I'm going back to Windows 8.1 on my desktop so I'll try it again then.

I had the same problem, not being sent a code. I made same numerous attempts using different methods, but no codes. Gave up and went back to Windows 8.1.1.

I received a code on my first W10TP install on a blank hard drive. Subsequent install on a VM on an existing W8.1 got no code. Like others tried many times but no codes to my designated email account.

Verify your identity on this pc, no code sent to e-mail?

I have some questions related to the issue discussed here. I understand MS explanation for the need of the two-step verification. But why can't I disable it? Why can't I set my own code to be used all the time if I'm force into this procedure? I created a local account but every time I need to install an app from the Store, I'm forced to enter my local account password first and then enter my MS Live Account credentials. I then have the security code go to my cell phone. Once entered, my desktop profile switches and I can then install apps. When I disconnect from my Live Account, the entire procedure has to be reversed. I'm prompted to basically recreate the local account and then I'm forcibly logged out. I then logon with the local account credentials. This is crazy! Microsoft doesn't plan for this process to be in place when Win10 is officially released, do they?

In case this helps anyone... I have a Microsoft Account which is set up for 2-step authentication using the Authenticator app on my smartphone. When I installed, W10 it asked me for an authenticator code at initial setup, but once I'd done that it seems to have been happy since and hasn't asked me to verify.

  10. Y'know, I have always intensely disliked this as part of the install procedure. Having to send a code to a e-mail account that has yet to be installed on the computer. I wonder if the issue was what the original settings are on the MS account? Since they do not give you the whole e-mail account info. The other thing would be the default settings of something like Outlook which will not show previews, links, or pictures in the trust center until you disable the settings.

Well I haven't so far, but I've only had a couple of plays with it so far so I wouldn't say 'never' quite yet *Wink. There doesn't seem to be a Verify question or link anywhere that I can find.

My understanding (and someone will probably correct me is that once I'd put in the authenticator code in for the Microsoft Account I use to login to the PC, the 'verified' status stays associated with the PC. And I've not had to get a text message or email code, because I'd set up the authenticator some time ago before W10 came out.

No idea if it would help with a local account though.

  13. Verify your identity on this pc, no code sent to e-mail?

I just wish it would remember that PC, even on a reinstall. Once you enter the code that PC is trusted and your fine until you reinstall Windows. Then you have to do it all over again. You shouldn't have to do that if you use the same computer name and its the same hardware. You can skip it during the install and then do it latter when you have your e-mail working. I've done that. I have several PC's so lately I just wait for the e-mail to show up on my other PC and then enter it during the install. I just reinstalled 8.1 on my desktop and still not getting the code e-mail. I got them in the past though. I'll be calling my ISP to see if they are blocking them as spam or something. It that's not the case I'll be contacting Microsoft. In any case, its not a Windows 10 issue. Or at least I don't think it is. Once I find out what happened to my e-mails I'll post back and mark this as solved.

I'm not sure why, but I never had to get a code. I installed 10 Preview in VMware and 10 Enterprise as a clean install on another computer. Both times the verification was they gave just part of the email address the account is associated with, and I had to put the whole thing in, then it was fine.
