Windows 10: Version 2004 always asks for default picture viewing App

Ever since I upgraded to v. 2004 (19041.508) 3 weeks ago Windows keeps asking me to select the default program for viewing jpg files when they are attachments to my e-mail program (I use OE Classic). Other attachments (ie PDFs) are fine.
If I click on a jpg on my Desktop it's fine, which means it is set properly in Windows Settings.
Something has happened that is causing this behaviour .
The author of the program says it is a Windows problem but it doesn't happen in Thunderbird e-mail.
Any ideas?

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

I suggest run the in-built Windows Store app troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps:

  Press Windows Key + X..
  
• 
  Click on Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on View All.
  
• 
  Click on Windows Store apps to run the troubleshooter.

Picture User Folder vs Library Picture Folder / Add to User folder

Form the issue description, I realize that you are trying to view your pictures in the default pictures library. To do so, you have to change the location of the folder that contains your pictures to the default pictures library folder.



To view your pictures in the default pictures library, I suggest you to follow the steps below.

• 
  Right-click on the default Picture folder
  and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Navigate to Location tab.
  
• 
  Click on Move…. and select the folder that contains your pictures and click on
  Apply and then click on Ok.
