Very annoying issue when multiple apps are open

I have Windows 10. Recently I noticed that If I have several applications open and want to switch to another one, it opens BEHIND the existing window. How do I bring whatever application I click to the forefront? *Confused

Thank you to whoever has the answer to this question. I have sought long and hard for the answer, but to no avail.

    :)

WP8 Internet Explorer reloads pages when switching tabs

    Hey,

I haven an annoying problem with IE on my new Lumia 720 running WP8 8.0.10211.204.

When I am browsing the web e.g. Schlagzeilen - SPIEGEL ONLINE - Nachrichten and I open multiple articles in new tabs I wait for each article to be fully opened and then switch back to the tab containing Schlagzeilen - SPIEGEL ONLINE - Nachrichten and open another article. However,
when I have opened multiple articles this way and then switch to one of the tabs containing a just opened article using the tabs button, in most cases, IE will reload the page again. This is very annoying when u e.g. open articles for later reading when u
    have no Internet connection available.

If never encountered this on my HTC Mozart running WP7.5. The problem also occurs when I switch to a tab that I just opened a minute ago and no matter whether I leave IE and switch to another app or keep IE open all the time. The problem also occurs with
    other webpages.

Than you very much in advance!

Very annoying issue when multiple apps are open

Is it always a different program running on top, as opposed to a single program that remains on top whenever you have multiple programs running and alt tab?

Well, you can click on the taskbar icon, of course.
Normally you would expect newly opened programs or programs you select to appear on top.
But you are talking about switching, so I understand you have a number of programs open..

You can also use ALT Tab.... Hold down ALT, and press TAB

    How are you switching programs?

Yes, the programs on top vary. I never use the alt tab function. I forgot about that function. I just want quick access to another program when I need it.

When I open a program, it appears on top. Whenever I have opened program (Word, Excel, Gmail, etc) and need to go from one to the other, it won't appear on top. It usually opens up behind the program I'm trying to switch from. I hope that makes sense.

poofer above mentioned alt tab, but there just seems to be a quicker way to access what I want. I used to be able to click on the program I need and it would show up on top of the window I was viewing, but not anymore.

What you're seeing (new windows opening behind existing ones) is not normal behaviour even for Win 10 - as you might expect. So.. assuming you've not added a feature that lets you set a window 'always on top' (which is very useful sometimes!)...

Try this (yes, I know it says Win 7):

This is an OLD POST, but I think I need to contribute my two cents!
In Windows 7, window pop-ups are control by FOREGROUNDFLASHCOUNT and FOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT in the REGISTRY (You need to CLICK ON the START ICON at the leftest of your TASKBAR, and type REGEDIT in the SEARCH PROGRAMS and FILES field). Go to the REGISTRY EDITOR and it is at this path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP.
One click on the DESKTOP (Manual Display), and your will see the detail populate at the right side of the REGISTRY EDITOR window. Go to fine the FOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT, and double click on it.
The EDIT DWORD small window will pop-up. Change the VALUE DATA to ZERO.
Yes, you must restart your PC in order for the change to apply.
Here is what is telling us in the Windows 7 manual: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc957205.aspx
    ForegroundFlashCount

2 out of 6 rated this helpful - Rate this topic
    HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop
Data type Range Default value REG_DWORD Number of flashes in decimal 3 Description
Specifies the number of times the taskbar button flashes to notify the user that the system has activated a background window. If the time elapsed since the last user input exceeds the value of the ForegroundLockTimeout entry, the window will automatically be brought to the foreground.
    Related Entries
Yes, if the DOWNLOAD timer in the FOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT (SHOWING 30D40 Hexadecimal) is longer than the 3 FLASH(Default), then you will see the new WINDOW pop-up behind your mother window or your application. Set the VALUE DATA to ZERO, sooner than the 3 FLASH of the FOREGROUNDFLASHCOUT, the the DESCRIPTION above is applied.
    Good luck
    Leng

Thank you, Dalchina. I saw that post yesterday, but because it referenced Win 7, I ignored it, plus it looked a little bit complicated, but now that it might work for Win 10, I'll follow the steps. Hopefully, this will work.

This isn't an issue I've seen with Win 10.. and I've seen a lot of posts.. so I suppose the question would be why it occurred, and whether it will again. That's part of the problem of an OS architecture where users and user programs can write pretty much anywhere. But MS will most likely not segregate the two in our lifetime. (Imagine an OS completely updateable and repairable irrespective of installed programs.. it could be done!)

You know, it might be my computer settings because this is a recent issue.

"It could be done!" I wish it were, Dalchina. Thanks so much for your feedback.
