Very Low GPU Usage After Windows 10 Update

My windows 10 updated in the end of August, and since then even the most light weight games have had horrible lag. I can see on the nvidia overlay and the task manager that they are mostly using the Intel CPU, which they shouldn't. I have tried reverting the update, updating all the drivers that needed to be updated, and messed with the Nvida Control Panel. According to the control panel, they should be using the Nvidia GPU, but for some reason they aren't. I have reseached everything, and I don't know what to do anymore. Please, can somebody help?Windows: Windows 10 Home - Version 21H2CPU - I

  2. Random low gpu usage leads to whole pc on 10 and below fps

Hi Syaden. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

    1) Try these fixes for low GPU usage and FPS in Windows 10:

    2) The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it is sometimes not enough. So let's try everything possible to get it working correctly:

First make sure you have updated the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC.

If necessary first remove the old driver using DDU https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/ddu-guide-t... (not necessary with Microsoft Basic driver which is a placeholder if nothing else is available) and/or installing in Safe Mode with Networking (so you have internet), or Safe Mode, accessed by one of these methods: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf...

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS/UEFI firmware (very important), network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e...

or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

Adjust the screen resolution until it fits and looks best at Settings > System > Display.

Check for a monitor driver by expediting Windows Updates (including Optional Updates) in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates to install all Updates until no more are offered.

    3) Go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account to replace yours which may be corrupted. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    4) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

  3. Low GPU Usage with SLI Titan X & G-SYNC

When in Full Screen mode I have lower GPU usage (80%/75%) compared to when in Windowed Mode (87%/98%). I made the video below that shows the difference. I've included my systems specs below. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? Below is a list of things I've tried and system specs.

    Thanks
    BB
    • Reinstall Nvidia Drivers using Clean Install
    • Disabled G-SYNC
    • Tried old 60Hz monitor, same lower GPU usage in Full Screen
    • Tried different Refresh rates, currently set to 144Hz.
    • Tried turning off all but 1 of my monitors
    • With SLI off using only 1 Titan X GPU Usage is all good at 99%, regardless of Full Screen or Windowed.
    Windows 10 Pro
    3 ROG Swift PG278Q 27" 2560x1440 144Hz
Skylake i7-6700k @ 4.4Ghz with NZXT Kraken X61 Liquid Cooler
    SLI GTX Titan X @ 1354Ghz
    Asus Maximus VIII Hero Mobo
    Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD
    Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 2400 16GB
    GeForce Driver 361.43

    -----UPDATE-----
Thanks for the suggestions I've determined the problem has to do with with G-SYNC SLI, it's possible it is limited to the Asus ROG PG278Q. If someone has another G-SYNC monitor and SLI cards please let me know if you have poor GPU usage in Witcher 3.

  4. Very Low GPU Usage After Windows 10 Update

Random low gpu usage leads to whole pc on 10 and below fps

Hi, I have a pc with specs:

    Intel Xeon 2600

    Amd rx460

    16gb ram ddr3 1300mhz (i think)

    Psu cooler master 550W

    Windows 10 pro

First when I bought the pc, the fps in game was great and I could list the games such as,

    Warzone- 55+ fps

    Apex- 70+ fps

    Valorant- 90+ fps

    Genshin- steady 60 fps

But lately, I noticed when i booted windows, it load so slow and my whole windows is lagging. It couldn’t even load calculator.

So i did some test run on Apex with task manager on,

I noticed that the gpu usage was below 20% and cpu usage on about 60%. And funny, when i flick my gpu, sometimes it will run like normal. The usage on gpu will be back on 90% to 100%. But then for some times it will be on low usage. I did check on all power management and all. I set it to high performance already. And in the amd software i didnt set any fps limit. Oh and also the gpu doesnt run hot. I mean the temperature is even on 52C (usage on 20%). It acted like it didnt wanna run on full performance. (Let you know when it run on high usage, the temp will reach on 70C).

The question is, is my gpu gonna be dead or it is the loose pcie? Or is it the psu that doesnt supply enough power? Because i dont think its my cpu bottlenecking because it runs fine before.

Oh and also i saw an error that says WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR in BSOD.

Thanks for those who are willing to answer my question..
