Windows 10: Very simple: if I clear the Gallery, have I just cleared all of my photos from my computer?

I can't figure out how to add a screenshot to my question.

Clear Gallery...

I am having a hard time finding an answer to this question. I can only assume that either the question is not being asked correctly or the question is not being interpreted correctly by the people answering the question. OK, So, here goes...When I open "Windows File Explorer," in the left hand pane I see an folder item named "Gallery." (see attached) I have read the this is something new to W11, and I am OK with that. However, I want to be able to clear the items in the list, kind of like clearing the cache. If I select and item in the list and click "Delete" then the item is removed from the list, but is also removed from my computer...ARG!!!! ( I lost a whole lot of files not realizing this) Not what I want to do. I just want to clear the gallery list, not delete the picture(s) from my computer. BTW, this is not an android phone, it is a laptop!!!!!!!

Clear Gallery...

I read your question completely and it seems that you are trying to keep the images from showing up in the gallery right? Please feel free to point out if my understanding is wrong.



If I understand you correctly, you can accomplish this by following these steps:

1. Open Explorer and select the "Gallery" tab.

2. Locate the collection folder you want to delete and right-click on it.

3. Select the Manage Collections option and then select the Delete option.

4. In the confirmation dialog box that pops up, click Yes to confirm deleting the folder.



Deleting a collection folder in the Gallery of a Windows operating system only removes it from the Gallery and does not delete the original files.

When you delete collection folders in the Gallery, you are really just hiding them from the Gallery view without making any changes or deletions to the actual files. This is done to provide better organization and ability to browse the gallery without affecting the location or content of the original files.

Clear Pagefile on Shutdown


I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:

1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
3. Restart Windows.

I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?
