Windows 10: Very Specific External Hard Drive Virus / Issue

I am very unsure of weather my external hard drive has a virus or not. But I'm going to make a very strong assumption. I downloaded a Adobe plugin on my external hard drive and about an hour later, that same external hard drive gets renamed to "Local Disk", after it was renamed, it prohibited access to opening the hard drive along with preventing software's like McCafee and Malwarebytes both antivirus's to scan files and detect weather the disk is even there or not. Usually about ten minutes after this, my whole computer screen ends up turning grey, but as soon as I unplug the hard drive, it

back up external hard drive into a different USB port and check the if you get the error message as such. And if the issue persist, try plugging in a different
back up external hard drive and check the behavior.

If the issue still persist with a different
back up external hard drive also, then try the same procedure in a different computer device and check the behavior. This is to just make sure, if the issue is
back up external hard drive specific or computer device specific.

External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.
