If you connect straight HDMI to HDMI and it works, then there's no problem with the graphics card or port, or computer. The issue can be on the adapter, or the VGA cable, or the monitor itself. I would suggest that you try the same adapter/VGA cable with a different monitor if possible to help narrow down the issue.

hello there i have msi laptop with windows 11 installed and i want to display it on my hp monitor and im trying to connect with hdmi to vga adapter and the laptop is not detecting the monitor at all while when i connect it with any straight hdmi cable to a new monitor it works fine and i tried every single solution like updating the drivers or troubleshooting and still not working , i really hope u have a solution ,thank you.

I have a 2 monitors with docking station set up in my home office. The monitors themselves have VGA & DVI ports. I use my work laptop and personal laptop on this set up and it had worked perfectly up until a month ago (Approx).

The laptop was connected to the docking station by USB-C port, which connected to the monitors via VGA/VGA cable (Monitor A) and HDMI/VGA cable (Monitor B). This was the same for both personal and work laptop, (Work laptop is on Windows 10 Pro, Personal laptop is on Windows 11 home)

About a month ago I lost power for a few minutes, a few days later when I was working in my home office I discovered one monitor wasnt working. I switched the cables around VGA/VGA connection works everytime regardless of which monitor. Thinking the power cut had fried the HDMI port, I tried swapping the second HDMI port on the docking station it didnt work, so I tried connecting directly to the HDMI port on my work laptop and then my personal laptop, none of which worked. I was able to test the HDMI ports in my work office, as the monitors have HDMI, the HDMI/HDMI connection works fine.

Even after testing 2 or 3 cables, process of elimination made me blame the cables, I bought brand new ones, and still have had no luck. So Im left with the only option being a driver issue in relaying HDMI to VGA. Can you please advise on how to resolve this issue?
