Via USB 3.0 eXtensible Host controller disappears from device manager after Sleep mode

    Hi,

I am using a custom-made PC with an ASRock H61M/U3S3 motherboard. Since it has only two USB 3.0 ports at the rear and no on-board header for any front USB 3.0 ports, I have installed a PCIe adapter card with two external USB 3.0 ports and one 19-pin header for the two USB 3.0 ports in the front panel of my Corsair case. The adapter card uses the common VIA VL80x chip, which does not require drivers under Windows 10.

This setup is very instable. I have tried two different adapter cards before, which never worked reliably. My latest attempt has been with the card "76666E" from Intos/InLine, which has been running fine most of the time.

However, I have recently noticed that the host adapter disappears from the device manager when the PC wakes up from sleep mode. It will reappear after a Windows reboot, listed as "VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller - 1.0 Microsoft". This is a different problem from what many other people are reporting, where the controller is listed with an exclamation mark and error code: In my case it simply disappears from the device manager, and consequently no attached USB devices will be recognized any more.

While this is not a complete fault, it is still annoying because sleep mode is very useful: Now you need to restart the computer completely in order to be able to attach and use any devices after waking up from sleep mode.

    Does anyone know a solution?

    Thanks

  3. Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller waking computer from sleep

    Hello, I have a Intel NUC D54250WYKH.

When I put my computer to sleep, the computer automatically wakes up between 1 minute and 3 hours.

I went to command prompt, typed in powercfg -lastwake, and this is what I got:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -lastweek

Invalid Parameters -- try "/?" for help

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -lastwake

    Wake History Count - 1

    Wake History [0]

    Wake Source Count - 1

    Wake Source [0]

    Type: Device

    Instance Path: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C31&SUBSYS_20548086&REV_04\3&11583659&0&A0

Friendly Name: Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)

Description: USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller

Manufacturer: Generic USB xHCI Host Controller

I do have a AmazonBasics 7 port USB 2.0 hub connected to the computer [from AC power], all ports are used.

My question is that is there a way to disable the waking on the host controller? I can't seem to disable the wake from the device manager. Also, I do not think that this is an issue with the Wake on Lan system.

If you have questions or solutions, feel free to reply.

    Thank you Microsoft Community

USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller Wakes PC

    Hello, all.

I've had this problem since I built this PC a couple of months ago. When trying to put my computer to sleep, it wakes up no more than a second later. According to powercfg -lastwake, this is the culprit:

    Code:
    These are my specs:

    • Computer type: PC/Desktop
    • OS: Windows 10 Home
    • Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
    • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz 8-Core Processor
    • Motherboard: ASRock X470 Taichi ATX AM4 Motherboard
    • Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
    • Graphics Card(s): Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card

This PC has one USB 3.10 slot, which is on the motherboard. I have nothing in it. I've done just about everything the Internet has suggested, including disabling the driver (this solves the issue but for some reason disabling this driver also disables my Bluetooth driver), uninstalling / reinstalling the driver, checking the BIOS for any wake or USB-related options, uninstalling my GPU drivers / Nvidia GeForce Experience, checking for scheduled events, checking to see if any of my other USB connections (which are only a mouse and keyboard) are to blame -- you name it, I've probably done it. There are only so little support topics on this issue posted online, and none of them have a definite resolution, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

That said, I'll appreciate any help / suggestions! Thanks a bunch in advance!
