  1. Video drivers have to keep installing after every reboot?

    Hello,

Im going crazy here and I need any suggestions for this. Been happening since I reinstalled my OS on my M2 SSD a few months back. The issue would be mild and I lived with it. The video drivers on my GTX 2070 would not work for a moment and would 'reinstall' when Windows was finishing booting. Now when the OS boots up you can hear the drivers uninstall and roughly 30-60 seconds later they get installed. Alot of my software doesn't boot right or crashes (DragonCenter, iCue, Wallpaper Engine, etc).

So I looked into my Event Viewer and it shows me a few errors Im not sure how its even happening:

    ------------------------

Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4. (Event ID 10016)
    ------------------------
The previous system shutdown at 11:09:57 PM on ‎3/‎22/‎2021 was unexpected. (Event ID 10016)
    ------------------------
A TCG Command has returned an error. (Event ID 10016)

    Desc: AuthenticateSession

    Param1: 0x1

    Param2: 0x60000001C

    Param3: 0x900000006

    Param4: 0x0

    Status: 0x1
    ------------------------
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. (Event ID 10016)

    ------------------------

Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0 (Event ID 10016)
    ------------------------

The MSI Foundation Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). (Event ID 7034)

    ------------------------

The cplspcon service terminated with the following error:

    Unspecified error (Event ID 70263)

These are a few errors that I see happen within the first 5 minutes after the boot. I thought at first it was my video drivers reinstalling itself was the biggest issue but it seems there's more to it. Im not entirely sure whats going, Ive reinstalled Windows a few times already, changed the M2 SSD settings in the Mobo, re-seated my GPU, reinstalled my GPU drivers and every software that crashes on boot. Any and all help is appreciated,

    Driver Update/install

Ok, so let me get the basics down first.

1st delete the old driver(software or one by one)
2nd Install new drivers from download
    3rd test new drivers

    Reboot after steps 1 & 2?

    No video after installing Windows10

    Hi Adrain,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

This issue might be because of corrupted graphic drivers.

I suggest you to run the video troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    • Type Troubleshooting in search and click
      Troubleshooting.
    • In the left pane click on View all
    • Select Video Playback.
    • Follow the prompted steps to troubleshoot this issue.
I suggest you to update the graphics card drivers/display drivers from manufacturer website and check if it resolves the issue.

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand ‘Display Adapter’.
    • Locate the display driver.
    • Right-click on the display card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’
If issue still persists, I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it works.

Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
    • Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows operating system from the drop down.
    • Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
Please reply with status of the issue for further assistance.

    Thanks.

  4. Video drivers have to keep installing after every reboot?

Installing drivers, do you reboot after each one or install them all then reboot once?

As a general rule, I slipstream drivers into the setup iso's for my personal systems. For client PC's, it depends on the OS. In years past on the 9X kernel based Windows it was important to start with the chipset drivers then video card followed by everything else with a reboot inbetween each. Because of the way the 9x kernel handled/organized drivers, it was important to get them in the right order. With 2k & XP, drivers were handled better and it was important only to do a reboot after the chipset drivers were installed. Everything else could be installed all at once, in any order, rebooting only after everything was installed. With Vista on up, it became important to reboot only once, after all drivers were installed. However, there is no problem if you want to reboot after every driver install. It's just not needed anymore because of the way drivers are handled by the kernel.
