  1. Video Dropping Out - Help

Somewhat randomly, every few days and sometimes as frequently as 2-3 times a day the video system of my Dell XPS 8930 (Win10 with all updates) seems to shut down the video system. The visual symptom is that both my monitors act very similar to having their data cables from the PC unplugged, then plugged back in 1-2 seconds later. The screens go black then come back - as they were before. My 4K monitor is using the internal graphics adapter and my second monitor is using the GTX1050TI PCIe card. Both monitors always do it together. Most of the time there is a full recovery after the 1-2 second delay - I just go on working. However, sometimes a running app or two will die or lock up when the event happens. It usually happens when I have several apps running and then have let the machine go idle for over 10 or so minutes, then start working again. Not positive but it seems to happen when after being idle a bit I do something that needs the disk. I think this because often (not always) I hear a noise from the bay area of the tower like something mechanical started to spin up. Could be the optical drive. It's been doing this about a year - but is slowly getting more frequent and lasting longer. One time the screens were black for about a minute. Other than this the machine is working perfectly, performance is good, startup time is good - runs great. Any ideas how to debug this? Thanks

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    sound but no video?WTF

Can you tell us what you're doing? Step by step? What program are you using? Like I say, if you're using VLC, any codecs you install won't help you at all since VLC doesn't actually look outside of its own libraries.

Just list the steps that you're taking.
