Windows 10: Video playback contrast issue

Hi r/Windows10. I'm having a really bizarre issue that I suspect has a simple fix, but I just can't figure out what that fix is.

Basically Windows changes the contrast of every media playback program that comes from the Microsoft store, like Netflix or the "movies and TV" app. It does not effect anything that I downloaded directly, like VLC, or any media players in a browser, like youtube.

The video will play with correct contrast for about 2 seconds, and then this really ugly "filter" will appear. Changing to fullscreen, or to windowed, will reset this 2 second timer.

I tried googling this, which I thought would at least let me find some stuff other people have tried, but no one seems to have ever encountered this issue before.

I suspect it has something to do with HDR settings, but my monitor does not support HDR, so I cant acces any of those settings. (I might be way off with this, but I just have a gut feeling...)

I have already tried the following:

- Update graphics drivers
- Change monitor
- Different GPU
- Different cables
- change color settings in AMD software
- re-download programs with this issue

I really hope someone can help me with this, or at least I can find out if i'm actually the only one with this issue. Thx in advance.

video playback freeze for a split second with a buzzing sound about every 20 to 30 seconds

• Which application you are using to play the video?
• What is the format of the videos you are trying to play?
• Does this happens with all other videos as well?

This issue might be due to outdated or corrupted graphic card drivers. Let's try the below steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Run Video Playback Troubleshooter.

I suggest you to run the Video Playback
Troubleshooter. Follow these steps to run
Video Playback troubleshooter:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar and select it.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Video Playback
  troubleshooter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Step 2: Also, I suggest you to update your graphic card drivers.

I suggest you to update graphic drivers and check if it helps. Follow the steps given below.

• 
  Press Windows key + X key and click on
  Device manager.

  Search for Display Adapters.
  
• 
  Right-click on the graphics
  card and click on Update driver software.

Video Playback issues

Hi Cami,

An outdated browsers or display driver is on of the possible causes of playback issues. To isolate your concern, kindly answer the following:

• What's the current build of your computer? Press Windows key + R and then type winver.
• Does the issue happen on web browsers only? Can you try to play a video file from your local storage to see if the same issue persists?
• Did you try to clear the browsing history and resetting your web browsers?
• Did you get a specific error message?
• Do you have a Flash Player installed in your web browsers?

Meanwhile, kindly run the Video Playback troubleshooter. Go to Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> Video Playback> Run the troubleshooter> Restart your computer.

Note: The automated troubleshooter will try to identify and then resolve the issues that it finds.

All Video playback choppy

I suggest you to update the Display adapters driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on Start button and click on Device Manager.
• Select the Graphic driver from the list by extending Display adapters.
• Right click on the Graphic driver and click on Update driver Software.

If the issue persists then install the latest graphic driver from the manufacturer and check if it helps.
