Windows 10: Video thumbnails not displaying in one specific volume

I have a brand new computer running Windows 11 Home version 22H2. Ever since I got this computer setup it will not display the thumbnail previews of any of my video files saved within my storage drive labelled D:. If I have files saved on my C: drive it will display the thumbnail previews there, and it will also display them when saved on my NAS. The exact same files that work on C: and the network drive will not display on my D: drive. This only seems to apply to video files. I can still see thumbnails of pictures on my D: drive. Default media play is VLC, but it still does this even when I c

What is your Windows build? Windows key + R, winver

 

Thumbnail view does not work for all video file types.

These steps do not change or fix the issue. For me, MPEG video files do not show thumbnails whereas they did with Windows 7. Not having the thumbnails is a big loss of in terms of using Photo Gallery to can through all photos and videos by date.

Is this a known issue specifically for MPEG files -- all of my other file types are displaying -- and if so, is a fix on the way?

I've tried all the "display thumbnails" approaches and have gotten no where.

System file corruption is one of the possible reasons why thumbnail preview has recently disappeared. To better assist you, please answer the following:

• For clarification, are referring to video preview thumbnails when using File Explorer?
  
• We would like to verify if you are referring to the Fall Creators Update. To see your
  Windows build and version, please follow the steps in this
  article.
  

In the meantime, we suggest creating a Test User Profile. This is to see if the same issue occurs on a different user profile.

To create a Test User Profile, follow these steps:

• On Search, type Settings then hit the
  Enter key.
• On Settings window, select Accounts.
• Select Family & other people.
  
• Select Add someone else to this PC.
• Name the User Profile as TEST.
• Assign a password for TEST user, then select Next.
• Sign in TEST user.
