  2. Transfering home created movie to external hard drive

Thanks for replies, The information you provided was helpful. I use Freemake for video conversion but rarely use other options and checked out the DVD option -put a dvd in pc and Freemake listed Audio_TS and Video_ TS folder so i converted Video _TS to mp4 ....after completion....opened the converted mp4 in Potplayer which i use now and transferred the mp4 file to usb external hard drive and clicked on it and Potplayer played with no issues. Have tried VLC player but i find it a fiddly to use ... i have a test pc i use for trying programs out. I will try VLC player again and play around with it more thoroughly and do comparison with Potplayer and see how things go. Thank you

    Windows 10 not reading DVDs

Code c issue and how the video is encoded.

Open the disk(s) with windows explorer and check

    the dvd layout.

If it has the video_ ts and audio_ts folders, only the video

    should have data.

Open it and check the file formats ,vob, bup, ifo files should list.

Can also depend on if the dvd was authored, burned as a data or movie

disk or finalised ( closed out or still open), if udf was part of the disk

    info added to the burn.

When using windows built in disk burning software it may not work across

    windows versions.

What video format does the camera work with, transfer to.

Microsoft removed video playback from windows media player and the code c

that were part of previous versions are not available on win10.

VLC (free) media player will work on almost all dvd and file formats, blu ray

disks are still not 100 % workable but HD encoded video files playback well.
