Windows 10: Videos freezing in the background

I often stream shows with friends on discord and sometimes when I'm a little less interested, in what they want to see, I started playing a game in the background. I have the best connection and hardware for streaming, which is why I'm the "host". After the last windows update or so, I stopped being able to run videos in the background. Minimizing a window has always made discord pause the stream, but as soon as something covers the video, it stops playing after a bit of time. This happens on youtube, Disney+ and Netflix so far. I also realized that it has nothing to do with Discord as it happ

Background applications

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
• Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
  
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.

Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
the background.

Embedded videos freezing


Recently I installed Windows 10, upgrading from 8.1. Now videos embedded in emails freeze after playing for a few seconds. Mainly it's the ads that often precede and accompany shared videos that are freezing, but when this happens, I can't get beyond them to see the shared vid. This occurs with all browsers that I have tried, e.g., MSN, Google, IE. Suggestions?
