  5. Hi Brink. I did use the free upgrade offer through the GWX app. I received notification that my reserved upgrade was available for my work PC, a Dell OptiPlex 9020 (mid 2013) which came pre-installed with Windows 7 Professional (with SP1 or not, I don't remember - but until this morning the SP1 was installed on this machine). I started the free upgrade to Windows 10, and everything finished smoothly within an hour, including the setup.

And now, Windows 10 on my PC won't activate. It says "Connect to the Internet to activate Windows". I am permanently connected via institutional LAN (obviously). If I click on Activate, the first time I tried, there was an error code 0xC004F034 with the text "Software Licensing reported that the license could not be found or was invalid" Thereafter, on successive tries, it just shows a blank field. (See attached screenshot.)

In addition, I, too, see the "Current Product Key" written as: *****- 3V66T, which according to others posting in the Microsoft forums seems to have been assigned to multiple people. I can't understand why it was done in that way.

Regardless, all the (very, very sparse) help material on Windows 10 activation at the Microsoft Help webpages talk about a "Go To Store" button, which - as you can see - doesn't show up in my case.

What should be my next move? How should I activate my Windows 10? Please tell me if you or someone else can. Thanks in advance.

    I found something guys,
These are the genereic Windows 10 keys:
    Windows 10 Home - YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7
    Windows 10 Home SL- BT79Q-G7N6G-PGBYW-4YWX6-6F4BT
    Windows 10 Pro - VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
    Windows 10 Pro VL-MAK - QJNXR-7D97Q-K7WH4-RYWQ8-6MT6Y

It seems like I have a Pro VL-MAK key, does this change anything?

LOL this worked for me guys, from CMD.

Search for CMD right click run-as administrator must be run with admin rights
    -then enter: slmgr.vbs /ato

Thats the command for activation it took me only 2 tries and it worked. The click Activate button didnt work i spammed it for more than 30 mins :O
Now ill go do a clean install and see if i get auto activated again, but if the servers are indeed busy that will be a problem.

No it doesn't. This are just a generic keys used for those free versions of Windows 10.

But I'm also having an 0xC004F034 error. I'm clicking like 100 hundred time, but still nothing.
I'm having the same problem on my desktop and laptop.
I upgraded from Win 7 Pro, and Win 8.1 Pro, both have the same problem...

It's hard to belive that this is just a server problems...

I believe that VL stands for Volume Licensing, that won't change anything.

I tried that almost 100 times, that didn't work for me. I recommend you to wait a while before doing a clean install. There are plenty of people who activated their Windows 10 after the update but got stuck (with another error message) after the clean install.

I tried mashing the activate button in spurts of 20-30 with 30 minutes in between and just went to go do another spurt and got my Windows 10 activated on the 3rd click.
