I have already installed W10 on a machine built for W7 Home. It has an AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor 3.00 GHz with 5.00 GB RAM and onboard video. It seems that sometimes, when editing video or running Defender or MalwarBytes, the system slows down quite a bit. If I upgrade to 8 GB RAM, is it likely that I won't see much improvement because of the AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor 3.00 GHz possibly the problem? When I check Task Manager when these programs are running, my CPU usage is usually near 100%.

Nope. The reason for that might be the article was wrote around 5/6 years ago when 2 GB RAM was sufficient enough. However, I am not sure.

  3. System Requirements for Windows 10 Upgrade

I own a 2011 laptop with Windows 7 and all the requirements for the upgrade are met so there shouldn't be any problem.

I noticed that for a x64 edition 2 GB of RAM are enough but it's recommended that I have 4 GB. Is there any reason for that?

Will my Windows 10 experience a slower performance, or other issues if I only have 2 GB of RAM?

Adding RAM will benefit performance if there is a shortage. Based on the information provided this is impossible to tell. A screenshot of Task manager, Performance tab, showing memory information would help. But it appears that the CPU is the real problem.

With RAM usage of 57% it does not appear to be an issue, at least not at the time of the screenshot. But you need to confirm which processes or processes are causing the high usage.

AMD is great for games and everything, except graphics and video editing. *Sad
When you disable pagefile after adding some RAM, it might speed things up a bit.

Increasing the RAM can't hurt and the 8Gb is a nice amount... I have the same. But for the most bang I would go for a new processor/motherboard to match. I have a nice Gigabyte and AMD A8-6600K and I love the combination. Check my specs to see the motherboard I have. It's really nice and affordable.
