Windows 10: Viewing/editing a snip

Hi there,I use the snipping tool a lot and up until tonight immediately after taking the snip it would open up on the screen so I could check it/edit it etc. Tonight I took a snip and a box opened up and asked me how I wanted to view the snip, I thought I clicked 'snipping tool' but I'm not sure now. When I take a snip now, it goes in to the screen shot file within pictures I didn't know that folder was even there!. So my question is, how do I change it back, so after I've taken a snip it immediately opens up within 'snipping tool'?Thanks,

Snipping Tool not showing Preview/Editing Window

One of our users suddenly lost the capability to view the Preview/Editing windows when taking screenshots using Snipping tool. They can still paste the snipped window with no problem, but cannot check and edit the said screenshot before saving/sending.

Steps taken to resolve the issue:

1. Restart the App

2. Restart the PC

3. Reset App in Settings

4. Uninstall the app, and reinstall from Microsoft Store.

5. Run an SFC system scan and repair

6. Updated Graphics Drivers.

If someone can suggest anything to help with the issue, it will be greatly appreciated.

 

Can Snip & Sketch be removed from Open With context menus?

Recently, I've noticed that whenever I want to open an image file (.jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .ico, ...) to edit it in one of my programs (not just to view it), and I use the Open With context menu command, where my various image editors are listed, Snip & Sketch is in the list of apps. I can't imagine why I'd want to open one of those with Snip & Sketch with its very limited editing ability, so I've looked in the registry at these file types in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\] to see whether I could eliminate it from the Open With list. Not there. Or, at least, not obviously there.

Suggestions for eliminating it, short of uninstalling the program (which I use frequently for TenForums posts)?

Please try this:

Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

Click Reset,

Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

• Windows Push Notifications System Service
  
• Windows Push Notifications User Service
