  1. Viewing Registry Items and Values

Hello MS Community, I can view various items in regedit.exe but I am unable to find these values using powershell. In Regedit.exe I have more file paths than shown when trying to navigate powershell. When using Test-Path to find these folders it comes up false, but I am able to edit them in regedit.exe.

    :)

  2. How to restore registry values?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

You can perform system restore and check if it helps:

    Perform System restore.

I suggest you to perform system restore and select a date prior to the changes which was done with the registry values and check if the issue gets fixed.

    To perform System restore:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
      System.
    • In the left pane, click on System Protection.
    • Select the option to system restore
      > next. It will show all restore points already created.
    • Select the date prior to the date on which you have made the registry changes.

JumpListItems_Maximum (Recent Items) applying to Windows Explorer but no other apps. Still limited to 10 recent items.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We appreciate your effort on this. We understand that you want to increase the number of Recent Items shown in the Jump list. However, we would like to know the following details:

    • Which registry value have you tried changing?
    • For which applications you are unable to see the recent items in the Jump List?
    • Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer?

Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Follow the steps to take backup of registry.

I have tried to modify the registry value JumpListItems_Maximum in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and it seems that the Jump List displays the exact number of recent items, which is set in the registry value.

You may try changing the registry value for JumpListItems_Maximum in the location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and check if that helps.

    Let us know the results.

    Regards,

invalid value for registry error in Windows 10 when viewing photos

When I went to view my photos, I'm getting an invalid value for registry error. I research the error in the forum, and did the suggestion of running System File Checker, when it finished it said "windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations".
I then rebooted my system, tried to view the photo again, and got the same error.

How do I fix this problem?
