Windows 10: Vintage: Acer Aspire One 722 {Ram Questions}

Yeah she's a vintage one, anyway I love her...well the PC that is.
Compact and so versatile. She was made to run windows 7 not 10, with Win10 on; memory is a premium.

My problem after looking for the real thing taking up my Ram, I found windows defender to be the cause. So now I'm looking for any and all programs that do not need a bunch of ram. For starters a Anti-virus Program that uses less ram then windows defender. I know I hate to not use windows defender but I don't see anything else other then of course the OS. Speaking of the OS, I checked online my old acer aspire just meets the requirements to run win10 32bit. (barely)

I'll be using it for my work on the tug as well as my port pilot training and hands on port work. I will manly use it to connect to the ships controls via Ethernet and TCP, I think I said that right. So many different cables. Anyway it will also be used for Microsoft: Word, Access and Excel. Light Internet usage. basically one application per activity, i'm well aware that to do more you need more ram. Look I know it's old and I'm not expecting it to pop fireworks or blow flames of speed every time I put in a command; but it's got to stop flooding it's self. I've lost a few important things well using it thankfully I save backups of the stuff to my external HDD, that was recommended to me by staff here.

I've already set everything to be geared for performance, so all the extra cosmetics of win10 has been either removed or disabled. I've also flirted with the idea of placing Linux on it, did it twice and encountered either a bad kernel batch or AMD processors don't like Linux? 2GB of ram is pretty crappy, true; I need this because it's a fully working Windows 10 laptop with out all that cheap trash and it's not flimsy like what they make for tablet PC's now. Hench why I wanted to keep this and invest some time and money into it. The storage and everything else work great. Just the ram has nothing in the gas tank basically it's running on E. I note someone (friend) mentioned about buying external ram? Is this really true or a scam. Also is there by any chance a windows 10 lite?

Acer Unveils Aspire One 722 Netbook

PC giant Acer is ready with a new uppish netbook, the Aspire One 722. This 11.6-inch nebook runs on AMD's Fusion C-50 accelerated processing unit (APU) clocked at 1.00 GHz, and embedding an AMD Radeon HD 6250 DirectX 11 compliant graphics processor. The 11.6-inch screen packs a decent resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Most other features are identical to those of the Aspire One 522. The 722 feature an aquamarine color tone, with "drop ripple" design on its lid. Battery life is improved by an hour, now up to 7 hours on a full charge. Windows 7 Home Basic is the OS of choice. Price and availability details are not known.

  upgraded it from original xp to windows 7 home 32 bit then to windows 10.
  went to w10 without a hitch though I lost my Vice program (commodore 64/128 emulator)
  I expected hardware issues but every thing looks good. It is actually slightly faster and more responsive
  then the upgrade my other acer 722 which has 64 bit pro and 8 gigs memory.
  I was planning to put mint Linux on this little one but decided to see if it upgrade to w10 .
  well it surprised me.
  

 

Acer Aspire 5560 not upgrading to windows 10

That Error Code seems to be most frequently associated with/pointing to incompatible Drivers. The Acer Aspire 5560 Model is only listed on the Acer Site under 'Legacy Hardware' as far as I can tell, which suggests they may not be too interested in providing
further firmware/driver updates, but you could try asking on their Forums. According to this site ( http://www.notebook-driver.com/acer/acer-aspire-5560-5560g-windows-driver-utility/ ) the last updates were released in 2012!
