Windows 10: Virtual Desktop Freezing

For a very long time with many windows releases up to the current version as of 06.21.20 my virtual desktop hangs/freezes during use. It fry’s file explorer and the desktop. I have to smash the windows key + tab to get it back to the normal view.


If I had not created a hotkey script to taskkill all file explorer windows and then restart explorer I would have to hard boot windows to get it to respond to my mouse and keyboard.


I have run dism /restorehealth and sfc /scannow and it never fixes it. The only thing that works is safe mode or safe mode networking. It is fine there.


Windows, overtime has come to also gradually "feeze up" as well. After a while you will notice that file explorer doesn't respond to keypresses or autoupdate when it detectes a change such as when you rename a file. I have to manually refresh the window using ctrl+r shortcut.


Norton antivirus reports no virus activity and disabling it does nothing.


This is KILLING ME guys.


Please help me.

2. Show me a program tha I can use to monitor and figure out what is going wrong. Also if so what do I exactly look for when using the program. I know process explorer and have it installed but don't know what I am looking for as confirmation of a problem.


What should I do guys?

Virtual desktops

In the article you linked it says talks about 4 goals Microsoft has with virtual desktops:

• Give you more desktop space to group related windows
• Help you quickly locate and switch to any window or group of windows
• Let you easily re-organize your groups and move windows as tasks evolve
• Keep you in control of the degree of separation between your grouped windows

Not being able to control what desktop the program opens on really doesn't fit in with these goals.

Give me one good reason for why it is suppose force me to change virtual desktop when I open a program, just one good reason and I will consider to drop the issue. To me this sounds like virtual desktops isn't ready yet and you refuse to acknowledge that
there are bugs, because this makes it very hard to work with multiply virtual desktops.

Desktop freeze after log in
