Virtual desktops & dual monitors doesn't work quite well together

When I go Win+Tab I always have to move a couple of windows to my other virtual desktop when I start my computer. That's fine. But sometimes when I try to do that, it crashes back to the normal desktop as soon as I try to grab a window while in Win+Tab mode.

So as soon as I mousedown on one of the miniature windows in order to drag it, POOF it's back to the normal desktop. I can usually just go back into Win+Tab and try again. I usually have to try this "only" 2 or 3 times before it manages to work correctly.

This happens more oftenly on my secondary monitor than on my primary monitor, but overall I've seen it happen on both.

It doesn't appear to matter which program I'm trying to drag. This problem has existed for a couple of years, and so I've waited out many many updates in hopes that someone at Microsoft notices this. I guess you need to use dual monitors AND virtual desktops. And I guess Microsoft's test suite isn't quite that extensive. And that's okay, but I would still like this fixed of course.

    :)

    Multitasking/Virtual Desktops on Dual Monitors

    Hi,

    Great question.

Virtual desktop can only work on your one monitor, the another monitor is just extension of your first monitor. Another option is to use

    Hyper-V
    on other monitor.

Regarding on your idea you can raise it through the Windows Feedback App. You can post your suggestions or ideas that can help us improve the service that we provide.

How to find Windows Feedback app:

    • Press Windows key+ Q, and type Feedback.
    • Select Windows Feedback and sign in using your Microsoft Account.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards.

Virtual Desktop / Dual Monitor Issue

I just setup a 2nd monitor to work from home. Using Windows 10, I am able to move things around from monitor to monitor without issue. However, when I login to the virtual desktop for work, I am unable to drag anything from work to the 2nd monitor.....the
cursor moves, but the windows do not "travel" with it.

If I minimize my virtual desktop, I am able to move my personal items around as usual.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Virtual Desktop / Dual Monitor Issue

    Hi RNL94,

I’m Rey, your Independent Advisor, and a Windows user, just like you.

I also had this experience before in which I worked from home connecting to a Virtual desktop for work. The Virtual Desktop is only detecting one of your monitors. That's why you can only use one monitor but when you minimize the virtual desktop window, you
can move your mouse on two monitors because you're back from your main computer's environment.

The only people who can make this detectable is your IT of your Virtual Desktop from Work since this is configured base on the work system and not from your PC.

Your PC is merely connecting to the Virtual Desktop from work.

Let me know if this helps.

    Regards,
