Virtual Hard disk created in hyper-v

    Hi There

I am using windows 10 Pro, and had a virtual machine installed using Hyper-V with two virtual HDD in that VM.

Recently I had some problem with my Windows 10 OS and had to reset my windows with keeping all the files and settings, and it installed a new windows 10 for me, and also I cleaned the old windows folders.

Now the problem is, the old virtual hard disk space still showing as used within my current disk space,
    i.e.
    Total HDD capacity: 500gb
Total current file size: 30.9 gb
    Free space: 342gb only!!!

The reset of the space was allocated to virtual machine in my previous windows installation, and is there any way that I can delete the VHD and have the space into my current disk space?

    Your advice is highly appreciated

    Thank you

    Regards,
    Shajil

    :)

  3. Hyper V

I have read all the answers about disabling Hyper V in Windows 8.1. It does not work. I repeat, unchecking Hyper V in the change Windows Settings does not work. I ran Ubuntu and Fedora in the Virtual Machine. Now I have VM Ware. It
is not compatible with Hyper V. How do I disable the virtual machines and the virtual disk created by Hyper V? I am using
    Windows 10.

That 2nd picture only shows the size of directory d8e6.... not the whole drive. The whole drive you have used ~120GB as shown in top picture.

Try downloading Treezize free and run as administrator - it will show you what is taking the space and where..

By default Hyper-V disks are stored in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks\ so probably they'll be under C:\Windows.old\Users\Public etc but it will be easier to look with Treesize.

    Hi lx07,

Thank you so much for your quick support,

I found the VHD files in my current windows folder, deleted them and got my free space back, I guess I must have moved from old to new windows installed.

    Regards,
    Shajil
