Windows 10: Virtual Machine Lost Network Connectivity (Ubuntu)

I recently shut down my PC for vacation and when I started it back up this week, my Ubuntu virtual machine is complaining that it's unable to connect to the network. The host machine has network access. No changes to configuration were done in recent months. All was working before I shut down last Saturday.


Ubuntu 'failed to connect to network'. I researched it and a forum post said something about reinstalling the networking parts, so I tried the procedure:


(I just tried to copy and paste from the terminal screen, but found out the clipboard is no longer working either). I could do a photo screen shot from Windows and save to a file:


As can be seen, there are some problems with the repair and I was unable to succeed in reading certain files. As I mentioned, everything worked prior to shutting down for vacation.


How can I repair this?

What is the Virtual Machine to run Mint or Ubuntu?

Does anyone know a third party Virtual Machine that I can use to run Mint or Ubuntu?

 

Internet exclusively on a Linux virtual machine?


I do not know if that is possible in VMware. In Hyper-V that is very simple, you just need to unselect Allow management operating system to share this network adapter in Virtual Switch Manager for your external virtual switch:

• Selected = host and virtual machines have Internet connection
• Unselected = virtual machines have Internet connection, host not
