The new version of VirtualBox 5.1 brings, between the many new improvements, also some UEFI improvements.

There is the noted possibility to boot from USB but what I directly like is the new boot icon. When Win8/10 boots, it shows the VirtualBox brand logo built in VM bios:

    Looks nice! *Cool

I've still encountered some issues when clean installing Win7 on UEFI but at the time of writing this line BETA2 is still used so it's pre-release.

    :)

  3. 8.1 on the Nokia Lumia Icon

Cyan brings across the board Camera improvements, on the Icon and 1520 there will also be sound improvements enabling dolby 5.1 and other features as well.

    VirtualBox 5.1 UEFI improvements

Just for fun, having nothing against VirtualBox but being a big Hyper-V fan, I have to tell I like this boot logo more:

    Thank you Kari!
    Definitely a good one. *Cool
It's just that VirtualBox still had to catch up here, 5.1 being the first version I see it in.

Now we need someone posting VMware screenshot, why not. *Biggrin

    Hi there

Unless you boot directly into the Firmware (BIOS) the screen goes so fast no time to take a screenshot --which is good --who needs to twiddle thumbs waiting for a boot sequence to finish.

I'm running off a CENTOS Host (which itself boots really fast) and with VM's on SSD's I don't get enough time to capture the Boot start up shot.

BTW what is actually good on VMWARE is that the VM can be UEFI enabled or not even if the host hardware isn't UEFI itself. (Latest version - but VMWARE workstation needs to run on a 64 bit Host).

The only way on my system that I could capture the start up screen would be to be quick with a mobile phone camera and load up the pic that way.

I see that VBOX can boot a VM from a USB (Here I mean that in the VM's boot menu a USB is available) - in VMWARE you still need an ISO device to boot from - can of course be a DISK ISO but USB isn't accessible until the VM is booted up.

VMWARE should look about being able to use a USB device as a boot device from INSIDE the VM. However given the fact that VMWARE is more geared to enterprise and business customers who regard USB devices as great security leaks I don't have any hope of that change being made in the near future (or if at all).

( @Hopachi -- looks like EU might soon have one less member !!! Iceland itself withdrew application a long time ago but still gets access to EU internal market (like Norway) and is in Schengen agreement - no Visas (or even passports) etc necessary to visit if from W.Europe and some other countries. Not getting involved though --interesting to watch from the sidelines and still celebrating great 1-1 draw against Portugal. !!!!!!!).

    Cheers

    Thanks Jimbo!
Well that means you're must be running fully on SSD's, be it that fast. What I meant is the OS startup, not the UEFI screen by itself. OS should show at least a frame of the spinning circle; it's there where the logo is shown. If no branding exists, MS blue window should be displayed.

Either way the screenshot was just for the show. Others might like other features.

VBOX can record a video of booting and anything else.
    Remember this one? *Wink

True. for businesses isn't such a big deal; security risks well taken, but it's a nice feature to play with and good for testing. Bonus points for the hypervisor that has it. *Smile

Congratulations with the match! I've enjoyed the Icelandic fairplay, deserves celebrating!
The crowd sounded like Thor's hammer beating at the Gates of Asgard. *Cool
