Virtualization not working after reinstalling Windows 11

Hello everyone, I recently formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows, but now I can't use Android Emulators. Specifically, I use NoxPlayer to play some games, and possibly Android Studio's built-in emulator for development, though I didn't try that one but I assume it also won't work. Before reinstalling Windows I didn't have this issue. I also have VMWare Workstation installed because I use virtual machines from time to time, and I remember when I got this new laptop about 2 years ago, I also had this issue trying to get VMWare and the android emulators to work, but I can't remember how I

  2. External Virtual Switch no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

Here are some steps and solutions that might help resolve the issue:

    1. Check Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch:
      • Ensure that the "Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch" is enabled in the properties of your physical network adapter. If enabling it gives a pop-up that it will disable itself, this might indicate a conflict or corruption.
      • You can try to uncheck and then recheck this option, followed by a system reboot.
    2. Disable Microsoft Azure VFP Switch Filter Extension:
      • If you have recently updated to Windows 11 version 22H2, the Microsoft Azure VFP Switch Filter Extension might be causing issues. Disable this extension in the Hyper-V Manager under the Virtual Switch Manager's Extensions tab.
    3. Recreate the Virtual Switch:
      • Even though you mentioned that you have already recreated the virtual switch, it might be worth checking to ensure that the correct external network adapter has been selected.
    4. Update Network Drivers:
      • Ensure that your network adapter drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with Hyper-V.
    5. Use PowerShell to Create the Switch:
      • You can use PowerShell to create the virtual switch, which sometimes bypasses issues encountered in the GUI. Run the following command as an administrator:

      • Replace "Ethernet" with the name of your network adapter.
    6. Reset Network Configuration:
      • Use the netcfg -d command to reset the network configuration. This can help resolve any underlying network configuration issues. Note that this will remove all network adapters and you will need to reconfigure them:

      • Reboot your system after running this command.
    7. Check for Conflicting Software:
      • Ensure that no other virtualization software (like VirtualBox or VMware) is installed and conflicting with Hyper-V. Also, disable any VPN software temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
    8. Repair Windows Installation:
      • If none of the above steps work, consider running a repair install of Windows 11. This can fix any corrupted system files that might be causing the issue.
Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

  3. Windows 11 reinstall

Hi there I'm using a dell inspiron 3501.

I always experience BSODs in my windows 11 PC. So now I'm trying to reinstall windows 11. I have backed up all the important files as well...

But at the moment I am confused whether should I reset my PC by removing all the files or clean install or a fresh start. Can you give me any suggestion and how the method actually works and the steps that I should follow to reinstall windows 11?

  4. Virtualization not working after reinstalling Windows 11

Keyboard shortcut for changing virtual desktops does not work on Windows 11

I have the same question as Redirecting but the answer was not complete, so I am posting my own version with more information for you.

I use virtual desktops a lot.

    • Expected result:
      • According to documentation, Windows Key + Ctrl + Left Arrow and Windows Key + Ctrl + Right should cycle (editVirtualization not working after reinstalling Windows 11 :) switch between virtual desktops left and right until it reaches the end.
    • Actual result:
      • When I press that key combination, the active window moves from the left monitor to the right monitor on the same virtual desktop. Similar to Windows-left arrow, although without the window scaling and tiling.
    • Other information:
      • I am using Windows 11 version 2H22 (os build 22621.1702)
      • I have 3 monitors with "extend desktop," so each virtual desktop has three screens (two Samsung monitors and a Wacom One)
      • Per the other post's answer from Mosken-L MSFT, I have used the onscreen keyboard (osk) to confirm the keypresses are correctly being heard.
      • If I press Windows-Tab, I do Task View with my multiple desktops, which are named. And if I press Windows-Tab and THEN Windows-Control-Left, the highlight moves left on the list of virtual desktops. I thought maybe "Enter" would then switch to the new virtual desktop, but it doesn't, it just closes Task View. However, I I can press Windows-Tab again to switch. But on Windows 10, windows-control-left/right arrow was an actual shortcut that switched directly from one virtual desktop to another without opening Task View first. A series of three shortcuts is not a "shortcut," it's actually more time consuming than using the mouse.
      • In addition, according to documentation (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows-36f52e38-5b4a-557b-2ff9-e1a60c976434) photo backgrounds should be specific to each desktop although solid color desktops are not, it clearly states. However, when I follow the steps on that page for Windows 11, the photo background is applied to all desktops.
It seems like the virtual desktop feature just does not work as documented. Or has a ton of bugs. Is there a patch or update that I do not have? Is there another keyboard shortcut? Is there a keyboard shortcut manager built-in to Windows 11 where I can see if the shortcut has been assigned to some other behavior?
