Windows 10: Virus and threat protection tab missing.

This is not a question but a solution to this problem, my laptop for some reason didn't show the virus and threat tab that you would normally find in the Windows Security settings; after countless hours of research, I tried every single "solution" I found: "go to group policies and change the virus and threat display from enabled to unconfigured" when in the first place, it was never hidden/enabled, "run to gpedit.msc change the value of .exefile to blah blah blah" this solution lead me to have the worst time of my life, I, like a fool, changed .exefile to .exe file after doing this simple and seemingly insignificant mistake, it lead me to have the worst time of my life, I couldn't even open cmd... well all of that is over now and I'm thankful for that.


Now, what's the actual solution? You just needed to delete your student/job account from your computer, Settings-->Accounts-->Access work or school. That is it my friends, and let me tell you how underwhelming this is, you don't even have to restart or anything, your freedom was a click away all this time.


Btw you can check if a third party is controlling your Virus and Threat protection from your Microsoft account login, just go to check the status of your computer and scroll down.





This particular problem has many synthons, but none of the solutions online worked, I came up with this solution by pure luck, as just before I went to sleep I remembered that when I was setting up my laptop I accidentally clicked yes when it was asking for permission over my computer, I regretted it the instant i clicked it. I HOPE that this at least helps one person.

No Virus and Threat Protection Tab

Hello,

Open Group Policy snap-in by running gpedit.msc command.

Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Defender Security Center > Virus and threat protection.

Set 'Hide the Virus and threat protection area' setting to Not Configured.

Virus and threat protection not working

Hi there, I recently reinstalled my windows and the Virus and threat protection is down! I have found that I am missing the 'Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Service ' and 'Windows Defender Security
Center Service' files from my services list, I have looked into this and can find no solution to fixing this issue, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated!!
