    Virus found after latest Windows Update?


    Usually updates to Windows go off without a hitch for me. But after restarting my laptop for the latest update KB5007186, my antivirus software actually detected a trojan virus. It removed it and I had to restart a second time. Now I'm wondering about the affected file's normal function. The affected file is wlanext.exe, in case anyone needs to know.

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

    my latest virus protection update will not load. my computer is potentially unprotected, but I have tried several times to update with no luck. Can you help with suggestions?

    Yes that's exactly what I have. If you notice there is an uninstall option next to organize if you scroll to other updates ie. office, but it will disappear once you scroll to the latest updates.
