    Continuous recording saying I have a virus and to not shut down or restart computer and gives a phone number to call

    My wife’s new Chromebook froze up with recycled message stating to call bogus number. Tried.

    This worked:

    1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
    2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
    3. Select Restart.
    4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash
      Virus on new chromebook 3_l97rr0GvhSP2XV5OoCkV2ZDTIisAOczrSdzNCBxhIKWrjXjHucxNwocghoUa39gw=w36-h36.png
      Continue.
    5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
      Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account.
    6. Once you've reset your Chromebook:

    1. Choose your Chromebook from this list, then follow the instructions to reset your Chromebook hardware.
      Note: If your Chromebook isn’t listed, press Refresh

    The HP was not on list. I tried Refresh Power. It did not work
