Windows 10: virus slide out pop ups. What worked & what did not work. Win-10.

A tip about a recent virus encounter, not a question. I had a recent encounter with <Removed>. They generate Frequent slide out pop ups from the lower right corner. They warn of the system having viruses, sometimes viruses in general & sometimes 5 viruses or 3 viruses & use names such as Mcafee, Norton, Edge etc to give an appearance of legitimacy to get you to click on the item. I remembered after the fact that at some point I had clicked on the funny little purple robot to prove that I was not a robot and that apparently brought both viruses with it.1s

Left click and slide up from taskbar not working.

When I left click, hold and slide up a taskbar short cut like Firefox or Edge there used to be a pop up window thingy that would show some options like opening another browser window or a window in private. That feature stopped working and I can't find anything on Google probably because I do not know the correct terminology to search accurately. ( Jump list perhaps?) I would like to turn it back on.

Pop up blocker not working

I did what you suggested but no luck - I still get the annoying pop ups. Its nothing to do with the security settings, the blocker does not work I cannot get into it to check the blocked list etc. Maybe IE should investigate.

 

MS Works 9.0 calendar reminder pop up not working.


While Works on the whole is fine I'm having problems with the he reminder function, even though the reminder exe is listed in the correct places it doesn't produce a pop up at the time of the reminder, I've set it to 15 mins & 30 mins before to test it & nothing.
Opening up works calendar doesn't pop up the reminder either but manually opening the reminder does work.
When I first install it works fine until I restart the laptop then it stops working.
Anything I can look for or do to fix this?
